Is one minute the standard charades round length?
Yes, it is the round length most people already know, long enough to get somewhere on a hard card and short enough that a bad draw does not stall the game. The dedicated charades preset on the main timer page sets this same length automatically.
Does it keep correct time in a background tab?
Yes. The countdown is worked out from the clock rather than counted tick by tick, so a tab you switched away from comes back showing the correct time even if the browser paused it while it was hidden.
