A crossword from any word list
Write each line as a word, a colon, and its clue, and the maker weaves the words into an interlocking grid: longest first, every later word crossing one already placed, exactly how a classroom criss-cross is built by hand. The grid numbers itself the way newspaper puzzles do, the clues sort themselves into Across and Down, and a reshuffle lays the same words out a different way. A word that cannot interlock is told to you plainly rather than quietly left out, which is a courtesy some much bigger crossword sites have never learned.

Teachers turn the week's vocabulary into a worksheet where the clue is the definition and the grid does the drilling.
