How does it work without rooms?

Two ways. On a video call, everyone opens the page themselves, picks a card, and holds it up to the camera when the facilitator says reveal, exactly like physical cards. In one room, a single phone is passed around: each person votes in secret, the vote hides itself, and the reveal shows every vote with the average and the spread.

Why estimate with cards at all?

Because the first number said out loud drags everyone toward it. Simultaneous reveal keeps each estimate independent, and the interesting conversation is always with the highest and lowest voters, which is why the reveal highlights them.

Which deck should we use?

Fibonacci is the standard for story points because the gaps grow with the uncertainty. T-shirt sizes suit rough roadmap sizing. If your team uses something else, type your own deck, one card per line, and it is remembered on your device.

Where do the votes go?

Nowhere. There is no server behind this page: votes, names and the round history live only in the browser they were made in, and the history can be cleared with one press.

Honest about what this is

Most planning poker sites give you a synced room on their server: everyone votes on their own device and the site collects the votes. This page deliberately does not. There is no server, no room code and no account, which is precisely why nothing your team types here ever leaves the device it was typed on. In exchange, it leans on the two ways teams estimated before the internet got involved, and both work remarkably well.

On a video call

Everyone opens this page, picks their card, and the card fills the screen big enough to hold up to a webcam. The facilitator counts down, everyone lifts their device, and the estimates land simultaneously, which is the entire point of the game: the first number spoken out loud always drags the rest toward it. Full screen mode makes the card readable even on a small phone held at arm's length.

Around one table

Switch to pass-the-device mode and one phone does the whole round. Each person picks a card in secret, the vote hides itself behind a holding screen, and the phone moves on. The reveal lays every card out with the average and the spread, and highlights the highest and lowest votes, because the conversation with the outliers is where the real estimate gets made. Revealed rounds are kept in a history on the device so the numbers can be read back into the ticket at the end.
