Laps
Press Lap while the stopwatch runs and each split is recorded here.
Laps, splits and totals
Every time you press Lap the stopwatch writes down two numbers. The total is what the clock said at that moment. The split is how long that lap took by itself. Splits are the useful ones when you are coaching or running heats, because they show whether somebody is holding a pace or falling off it, and they always add back up to the total. The list keeps the newest lap at the top so the one you just took is the one you can see, and the running number never moves when a lap is added.
Timing a group
For a relay or a set of heats, one lap per runner turns the stopwatch into a results sheet you can read off at the end. For a class working through stations, a lap at each rotation gives you the real length of each station rather than the one you planned. Clear laps starts the list again without stopping the clock, which is what you want between two groups doing the same activity.
Counting down instead
A stopwatch answers how long something took. If the question is how long is left, the countdown timer is the tool, and it comes with presets for charades, quizzes, classrooms and party games. Both are on the tools page alongside the printables they pair with.
