Alphabet bingo can be called by letter name or by letter sound, and that one choice decides whether it is a recognition game or a phonics one. Each square holds a letter; you call one out and students race to find it on their own board. It’s simple enough for the very youngest learners and endlessly repeatable.
Switch between calling the letter name and calling its sound (“mmm” for M) and the same game doubles as phonics practice.
