Free Printable Rainy Day Indoor Scavenger Hunt
Print an indoor hunt where no two children get the same list, free, and ready in under a minute.
24 things to find · a fresh sheet for every child · US Letter & A4
- Something with your initial on it
- A thing with buttons
- A container with a lid
- A spoon
- Something shiny
- Something that smells nice
- A book with a blue cover
- Something that has been mended
- Something that folds
- Something smaller than your thumb
- Something red
- Something you can hear
The rain arrives, the plan collapses, and there are two hours to fill indoors. This hunt is built for that afternoon and for one small flat as easily as a large house. Nothing on the list needs a garden, a garage, or a cupboard opened.
Each child gets twelve things to find from a list of twenty four, so two children hunting the same rooms are hunting different things. The list gets more interesting as it goes: something round and a pair of socks to begin with, then something older than you, a word that rhymes with cat, something that has been mended, something that came from another country.
Print a stack and hand out pencils. Every sheet ends with a “Found by” line, and there is no account, no limit, no watermark. Say the two rules once before they start, nothing breakable and put it back exactly where it was, and the afternoon looks after itself. If your rooms hold something better, open the hunt in the generator and write it in. Whatever you type stays on your device.

Ways to run it
A different list each
Each sheet is a different twelve of the twenty four, so two children hunting the same house are not hunting the same things.
Nothing breakable
Say it once before they start. Every item on the list can be found without opening a cupboard or standing on a chair.
Put it back
The rule that saves the afternoon. Find it, tick it, leave it exactly where it was.
Indoor recess
Print a class set for the wet lunchtimes. It works in a classroom just as well as a living room.
