A classroom timer needs to work without interrupting whoever is still concentrating, which is why this page loads muted by default: instead of a chime at zero, the whole screen turns red and flashes, a signal a class can see out of the corner of an eye without a sudden noise breaking anyone's focus. The length starts at five minutes, a comfortable default for a task or a transition between activities, and it is a single click away from any other length if the task needs more or less.
Put it on the board in full screen and the number stays legible from the back row. The screen will not sleep while it is counting, so it can run unattended while you work the room, and the countdown works out remaining time from the clock itself, so it stays correct even if the browser tab lost focus for a while.
